Default Is It Really $14 Min Insurance Per Card for BGS?

...doesn't that almost double the cost to grade each card with BGS at the entry level?

Unless something has changed, its $14 per $1000 in declared/insured value of your order.

It's called cost averaging, the more cards you submit at the same time, the cheaper the shipping cost is per card (well unless they are all really valuable). They charge based on order total... But yes, if you do one card at a time, then you are doubling up on price!

Yes, but $1000 was the minimum value declarable. I wonder if I can declare no value and basically decline insurance. Thanks for responding!

Thanks, I do understand that shipping is cheaper per card the more you sub at once. But the insurance was a different category I thought.

I just did this successfully by submitting via paper form. It's the only way I know how to do it. Don't think I've ever declared a dollar for BGS insurance.

One time I did a sub with some friends through my account. I was doing my normal mid tier Drew Brees and Frank Thomas PC submissions. They hit me with 1950s and 1960s HOF rookie cards. I've grown to be less of a yes man since then, but at the time I was in a people pleasing state of mind and just ate the insurance.

Blowout would censor my reaction extensively if I typed it out, but yeah, insurance is helpful for those higher end subs. Just be prepared to pay for it.
